CARPET BOWLS
Established in 1998, it is a friendly community that meet on Fridays at Ruishton Village Hall.
Member can be as young as 10yrs old, so you don’t have to be in your mature years to play this type of bowls!
Membership is not restricted to the parish; you just need the approval of a club committee member after your trial period.
Come along bring your friends, and give it a try, you are sure of a friendly welcome.
TAUNTON AND DISTRICT FRIENDSHIP CLUB
The Taunton and District Friendship Club is an independent club open to all adults. We are always looking for new members, so if you are new to the area, or just want to make new friends, this could be just what you need.
We carry out a variety of activities, all organised by the members, for example, but not limited to:
- Visits to gardens, museums, places of interest
- Organised club holidays, day trips out
- Monthly skittles at Roadwater
- Monthly meetings with interesting speakers
- Monthly lunches and occasional evening dining
- Games afternoons, cream teas
Why not try us out?
We meet monthly on the 3rd Thursday from 2pm to 4pm at Ruishton village hall. Transport can usually be arranged.

FOOTBALL
The football pitch is regularly used for a good kick about and league matches.
ART GROUP
Meet on Monday mornings from 9.30 to 11.30 in the meeting room at the Village Hall.

Meets in the Village Hall every Monday from 2pm to 5pm.
RUISHTON HEALTH WALK
Organise a monthly walk, often starting from the village hall car park.
New walkers need to register with Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership or fill in a form on the day.

Anyone who enjoys knitting or crotchet are welcome to join the group.
The Teddy Bears picnic has been cleaned and rehomed and we are now working on a banner for Remembrance Sunday.

RUISHTON BOOK CLUB
If you enjoy a good read and would discuss it with other book readers, have a think about joining our book club.
At time of writing, we are reading Olivia Kiernan’s “If Looks Could Kill”. Set in Dublin and rural Ireland, a ‘police procedural’ of a murder investigation that expands with twists and turns beyond the obvious.
